Another Year Has Passed

This year it's seems almost I didn't care for this day. Except for wishes from friends and family, I got nothing else. Heck, even my best friend didn't call to say Happy Birthday. 

Anyway, we just went out and have a slice of cake (well, 3 slices, I was pissed) at Secret Recipe and headed out to Pizza and I got myself chicken steak. With a baby boy was crying (and driving me crazy) on the next table. 

So yeah. On the way back. I deliberately fall asleep. Didn't have much to say.

Korean Horror Movie Marathon

I guess there are many people out there who are into Korean movies like moi.

Well, that's a boring statement.

Let's go again.

I guess there are many people out there who can't let a weekend go by without enjoying South Korean entertainment such as movies like moi.

Another boring statement. Haha :D

Anyways, since this is the first week of my so-called summer vacation, I'm calling for a Korean horror movie marathon. Yay! I don't know why I was damn excited. Oh, by the way I just finished final exam last week.

So, let's continue with the top-of-the-list movies, shall we?

First, the most famous Whispering Corridors series.

Whispering Corridors (1998)

Basically, all the five movies are set in typical Korean high school. This first installment tells about the harsh Korean education system. Of course, there's friendship, being the main theme for all five movies. Since this was filmed back in 90s, even the slang is quite different. 

Whispering Corridors: Memento Mori (1999)

This one is a bit... Well, there's one issue being featured in this movie that was depicted for the first time in Korean movies. Wanna know? Check out the movie. With your mind being opened. 

Whispering Corridors: Wishing Stairs (2003)

Song Ji Hyo and Se7en's girl, Park Han Byul. Friendship, betrayal, and ballet. Oh, I checked out that Park Han Byul went through crazy training for her role in the movie. Kinda like in Black Swan. But of course, Black Swan is way awesome. 

Whispering Corridors: Voice (2005)

This one set in a music school. Among the five movies, this one is my fave. There's personality disorder, and student-teacher relationship. Like in Memento Mori. 

  

Whispering Corridors: A Blood Pledge (2009)

As for this one, it was filmed in a convent high school. All girls. I think this one has the most interesting plot. When arrived to some point of the movie, I was like, what??? Why??

Okay. So that's one part of my top Korean horror movies. I'll continue in part 2, for romantic movies.

Site Analysis: Informing Context-Sensitive and Sustainable Site Planning and Design

So I decided to invest a little bit more on Site Analysis book and this time, I got this book. After reading few chapters, I really find that this book is extremely helpful and of course a detailed one. So no more of those shabby-ancient style of presenting a site analysis presentation board.

It's Really Been a While

Speechless by Hannah Harrington

I laughed. Stunned. Amazed. Shocked. Surprised. Humoured.

There even some part when I read it, it just takes me back all the way to high school. And some freshman year in college.

Overall, I love it. Looking forward to Harrington's next project.

 Yeah. I haven't finished reading a single book in more than 6 months! The reason would be none other than being busy with studio and stuffs.

I gotta admit. I really enjoyed reading this one. Though it falls on high school romance genre but I still enjoy it anyway. Not in the mood to read heavy materials anyway. But I'm not in the mood to read manga too. Oh, I just got myself the final instalment of Maid Maiden by Kaoru. I know. I know. I'm over 20 and I still read these things. Can't help it! I'm a big fan of Kaoru-sama since high school!

Still, I don't really know how to write a book review (Lie. Of course I know how to. I did some before. Again, just not in the mood too. Haha. Please bear with me.) but overall the book really takes me back to high school. I wonder if I didn't go down to the same resolution as Chelsea when the incident back in high school happened. I'm pretty sure things would turn out differently. If I could just talk things out with that guy, things won't be dragged for over 7 years. Well, I'm glad that chapter has ended.

Back to the book, there's this one part, if I may, 

"As far as silences go, it is pretty comfortable...it's the kind of quiet shared between two people who don't feel the desperate to fill every second with the sound of their own voices."  

Someone once told me that when you are able to be with another person in a same room without having need to talk to each other not because you don't want to or you don't feel like you have to entertain that person with any sort of things, that you're okay or more than fine just to sit and not talking, it means that you have reached a level that you're comfortable with that person.

Personally, I only have like 1 person like that in my life. Apart of my family members. For that matter, it also means that I trust that person enough. Enough to tell just about anything. Some people may be able to reach a point that they're finally comfortable with another person easily, but for me it's nothing like that. Though with some people that I met for the first time I knew right away we're gonna be close friends, those are exceptional. But most of the time, it took me a while to get used to people. Yeah. Yeah. I am easy going and literally intentionally talk to strangers at Starbucks especially at the airports, but my point is it's not easy for me to reach that level of comfortable with just anyone and I believe most people like that, am I right?

“You can be surrounded by people and still be lonely. You can be the most popular person in school, envied by every girl and wanted by every boy, and still feel completely worthless. The world can be laid at your feet and you can still not know what you want from it.”

Though in my case, it's a bit different but I still can relate to that kind of situation. We often hear  "you can't have it all," but when it's really happening and we can actually have it all, questions like "do we really want to have it all?" pops in and then you just don't know what to do. 

Anyway, as time passes by, whether we want it or not, it's already the end of 5th week. One more week and it's gonna be mid term week. So, guys! Take good care of yourselves and let's study well for the tests.
